During the Thanksgiving holiday, our signboard said:<\/p>\n

Thank God!<\/span><\/em><\/h3>\n

Why do we say that?\u00a0 Many times those words exit our mouths along with a sigh of relief….<\/p>\n\n\t\t

\n\t\t\tI did remember my car keys…<\/p>\n

Thank God!<\/span><\/em>\n\t\t<\/div>\n\n\t\t

\n\t\t\tA car is leaving that front row parking spot…<\/p>\n

Thank God!<\/span><\/em>\n\t\t<\/div>\n\n\t\t

\n\t\t\tI remembered to bring my umbrella…<\/p>\n

Thank God!<\/span><\/em>\n\t\t<\/div>\n\n\t\t

\n\t\t\tI lost my credit card, but someone returned it…<\/p>\n

Thank God!<\/span><\/em>\n\t\t<\/div>\n\n\t\t

\n\t\t\tI dropped my phone but it didn’t break…<\/p>\n

Thank God!<\/em><\/span>\n\t\t<\/div>\n\n\t\t

\n\t\t\tI found my contact lens…<\/p>\n

\n\t\t\tThe CT scan came back negative…<\/p>\n

Thank God!<\/span><\/em><\/strong>\u00a0 We say those words a lot.\u00a0 Sometimes it’s in response to trivial circumstances.\u00a0 Sometimes we express relief over very trying and serious circumstances.\u00a0<\/p>\n

But sometimes we don’t even use the word God.\u00a0 We might say things like “Thank Goodness”… “Thank Heaven”…\u00a0 “Thank my Lucky Stars”…\u00a0 There’s a lot of thanking going on, but are we really thinking about God???<\/p>\n

Thanks, God!<\/em><\/span><\/h3>\n

If we just say “Thank God<\/span>“, we’re not expressing gratitude.\u00a0 But what if we really said (and meant), “Thanks, God<\/span>“???\u00a0 That minor grammatical change requires a major change in perspective.\u00a0 Do good things really come from God?\u00a0 Or do good things come from luck and a mixture of hard work, skill, and persistence? Does God supply our every need or do we make our own fortune?<\/p>\n
