Dr. Jim Bolton is now our senior pastor!!!\u00a0<\/span><\/h3>\n<p>The sad &#8220;goodbyes&#8221;of this transition have now turned into joyous &#8220;hellos!&#8221;\u00a0 Our new pastor is with us, and\u00a0 Jim, Judy, and daughters Rebecca and Lindsey have joined our church family.\u00a0 As we look forward, our excitement about the ministry we can do under Pastor Jim&#8217;s leadership continues to grow and grow. \u00a0 And now we anticipate the joy of\u00a0 <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><span style=\"color: #000080;\"><a href=\"http:\/\/www.churchleadership.com\/50Ways\/NewPastor.html?id=tweet20140515\" target=\"_blank\"><span style=\"color: #000080; text-decoration: underline;\">welcoming<\/span><\/a><\/span><\/span> the Boltons to our church during their first Sunday with us (<strong>this Sunday, July 6<\/strong>).<\/p>\n<p>After the 11:00 service on Sunday, we will greet the Bolton family in the Fellowship Hall with cookies, punch, and whatever other food people may bring.<\/p>\n<p>The Trustees did a lot of work to prepare the parsonage, and the Boltons moved in today and are currently in the process of making our parsonage their new home. The family is excited about moving to Pitman (<em>and they&#8217;re looking forward to their first experience of a Pitman Fourth of July Parade &amp; Fireworks!<\/em>)<\/p>\n<h3><span style=\"color: #800000;\">United Methodist Appointments&#8230;<\/span><\/h3>\n<p>Clergy in the United Methodist church are appointed for a year at a time.\u00a0 Usually they are re-appointed to the same church.\u00a0 Pastor Larry was appointed to our church 6 times and Pastor Jim was appointed to Franklinville 15 times.\u00a0 But- sometimes &#8220;usually&#8221; doesn&#8217;t hold true.<\/p>\n<div id=\"attachment_2340\" style=\"width: 310px\" class=\"wp-caption alignleft\"><a href=\"https:\/\/pitmanumc.org\/wp\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/06\/GNJAC14-Appointment-Letter.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-2340\" class=\"size-medium wp-image-2340\" src=\"https:\/\/pitmanumc.org\/wp\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/06\/GNJAC14-Appointment-Letter-300x200.jpg\" alt=\"Bishop John Schol (right) presents the appointment letter to pastor Jim. Potts wearing stole on final Sunday (6\/15\/14).<\/p><\/div>\n<p>Pastor Jim&#8217;s first Sunday as our pastor will be THIS WEEK (Sunday July 6).\u00a0 During the service he will be introduced and he will symbolically put on the stole which was last worn by our (now) former pastor, Rev. Larry Potts.<\/p>\n<p>A pastor&#8217;s stole symbolizes the yoke which ties laity and clergy together in service with Jesus Christ. In Matthew 11:29, Jesus said:<\/p>\n<p><strong><span style=\"color: #000080;\">Matt 11:29-30<\/span><\/strong><br \/>\n<span style=\"color: #000080;\">Take my yoke upon you and learn from me, for I am gentle and humble in heart, and you will find rest for your souls. <\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #000080;\">For my yoke is easy and my burden is light.&#8221; <\/span><br \/>\n<span style=\"color: #000080;\">NIV<\/span><\/p>\n<address>\u00a0<\/address>\n<address><span style=\"color: #00ff00;\">sorry about the blurry picture&#8230; the camera was in some sort of manual effects mode&#8230;<\/span><\/address>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>When someone is ordained as an elder in the United Methodist Church, they put on a stole to symbolize their commitment to the church and to Christ.\u00a0 Stoles are only worn by ordained elders in our church.<a href=\"https:\/\/pitmanumc.org\/wp\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/06\/Pastor-Larry-Jim-Stole-AltarRail-_0468.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignright  wp-image-2232\" src=\"https:\/\/pitmanumc.org\/wp\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/06\/Pastor-Larry-Jim-Stole-AltarRail-_0468-225x300.jpg\" alt=\"Pastor Larry-Jim Stole AltarRail _0468\" width=\"140\" height=\"187\" srcset=\"https:\/\/pitmanumc.org\/wp\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/06\/Pastor-Larry-Jim-Stole-AltarRail-_0468-225x300.jpg 225w, https:\/\/pitmanumc.org\/wp\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/06\/Pastor-Larry-Jim-Stole-AltarRail-_0468.jpg 600w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 140px) 100vw, 140px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>The stole last worn by Rev.
