The beginning of the new school year has arrived, and Our Father’s House is rolling out the red carpet to welcome our 2019-2020 students and families.\u00a0 A slate of mission projects and activities is under way.\u00a0 Here are a few of the highlights happening during the next month or so…<\/span><\/em><\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

September Missions Project\"\"<\/span><\/h4>\n

Our September Mission Project is to collect boxed cereal and to donate them to the Pitman\u00a0Food\u00a0Pantry<\/a><\/span>.\u00a0 So far, we’ve collected 70 boxes of cereal to help feed families in our community.<\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

October Missions Project\"\"<\/span><\/h4>\n

The children will be given\u00a0 a box to collect for UMCOR<\/a><\/span> throughout the month of October.\u00a0 Families are asked to keep it on your table and perhaps discuss at mealtime the ways that the money we collect can help children in different countries.\u00a0\u00a0<\/p>\n

The United Methodist Committee on Relief (UMCOR) brings God\u2019s hope, healing and renewal to people whose lives have been disrupted by war, conflict or natural disaster. UMCOR provides humanitarian relief and disaster response to people in more than 80 countries, including the United States.\u00a0 100% of the money donated goes toward this effort. Children will return their boxes of monetary contributions to their teachers during the week of October 28th.\u00a0<\/p>\n

In addition to the UMCOR boxes, we are also collecting jars of peanut butter for our local food pantry.\u00a0 Peanut butter is a good source of protein and vitamin B-6. It also provides a good amount of essential vitamins and minerals.\u00a0<\/p>\n

October’s Verse of the Month
\n<\/span><\/h4>\n

During the month of October, our featured verse will be Matthew 7:12:<\/p>\n

If you, then, though you are evil, know how to give good gifts to your children, how much more will your Father in heaven give good gifts to those who ask him! <\/span><\/em><\/p>\n

So in everything, do to others what you would have them do to you, for this sums up the Law and the Prophets. <\/span><\/em><\/p>\n

Friendly Firemen \"\"
\n<\/span><\/h4>\n

On October 8 and 9,\u00a0 our friendly fireman will visit OFH to talk with the kids and to give them a chance to sit in the driver\u2019s seat of a fire engine. This is always a highlight and we look forward to seeing them and learning more.\u00a0<\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

Zimmerman’s Farm Market\"\"<\/span><\/h4>\n

On days between October 15-17, the children will take a trip to Zimmerman\u2019s Farm\u00a0Market<\/a><\/span>.\u00a0 Pumpkins, Cider, and all sorts of Fall Fun will make this a special day.<\/p>\n

\n<\/span><\/h4>\n

Picture taking sessions will be held on Wednesday and Thursday, October 23rd and 24th.\u00a0 All children will be photographed and class pictures will be taken.\u00a0 Parents will be able to purchase a Memory Mate photo.\u00a0<\/p>\n

Flu Clinic<\/span><\/h4>\n

\"\"<\/p>\n

\u00a0<\/span>The county<\/a><\/span> will sponsor a flu shot clinic in our church, and on October 22 a special session for the Our Father’s House children will be offered during the school day.<\/p>\n

Something for the Parents<\/span><\/h4>\n

Naturally, the activities in Our Father’s House focus on the children.\u00a0 But, we haven’t forgotten about the Moms and Dads who bring their children to our preschool.\u00a0 <\/span><\/p>\n

PUMC’s Debbie Slenkamp and Sue Crispin will lead a morning Bible Study specifically for Our Father’s House parents.\u00a0 It will be held on Wednesdays from 9:00-10:00 AM in the Junior High Room (which is on the 2nd floor- right above your child’s classrooms). It will be a wonderful chance for\u00a0 parents to meet each other as we learn more about the Bible. <\/span><\/p><\/div><\/div>\n
