{"id":2067,"date":"2014-06-15T21:21:18","date_gmt":"2014-06-16T01:21:18","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/pitmanumc.org\/wp\/?p=2067"},"modified":"2014-07-18T15:59:44","modified_gmt":"2014-07-18T19:59:44","slug":"pastor-transition-schedule-622-629","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/pitmanumc.org\/wp\/?p=2067","title":{"rendered":"Pastor Transition Schedule  (6\/22 &#8211; 6\/29)"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Last night (June 8) we <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><span style=\"color: #000080; text-decoration: underline;\"><a title=\"PUMC Celebrates the Ministry of Pastor Larry and Pastor Kee (6\/8\/14)\" href=\"https:\/\/pitmanumc.org\/wp\/?p=2094\" target=\"_blank\"><span style=\"color: #000080; text-decoration: underline;\">celebrated<\/span><\/a><\/span><\/span> the ministry of our pastors; Rev. Kee Young Yang and Rev. Dr. Larry Potts.\u00a0 But our time with them is running short.\u00a0 Here&#8217;s the schedule for the upcoming Sundays during this transition period&#8230;<\/p>\n<h3><span style=\"color: #000080;\">June 15<\/span><\/h3>\n<ul>\n<li>Pastor Larry and Pastor Kee&#8217;s last Sunday with us.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h3><span style=\"color: #000080;\">June 22<\/span><\/h3>\n<ul>\n<li>No clergy will be present, but God&#8217;s work continues.\u00a0 The choirs will lead a service looking back at our heritage and praising God for our church.\u00a0 It will be a celebration of God&#8217;s faithfulness. <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><span style=\"color: #000080; text-decoration: underline;\"><a title=\"Choirs to Lead Services on June 22 (6\/22\/14)\" href=\"https:\/\/pitmanumc.org\/wp\/?p=2054\" target=\"_blank\"><span style=\"color: #000080; text-decoration: underline;\">Click Here<\/span><\/a><\/span><\/span> to read more about this service.\u00a0 There will be no sermon during these services.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h3><span style=\"color: #000080;\">June 29<\/span><\/h3>\n<ul>\n<li>The laity will lead both services. \u00a0 We will look ahead to consider how we can be faithful to the heritage God has given us in order to go out into our communities and make disciples.\u00a0 The message will be given by Larry Bakely, Lay Leader.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h3><span style=\"color: #000080;\">July 6<\/span><\/h3>\n<ul>\n<li>Rev. Dr. Jim Bolton will begin his leadership as our pastor.\u00a0 Pastor Jim will conduct both services, and we&#8217;ll welcome him, Judy, and their daughters Rebecca and Lindsey to Pitman.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<h3><span style=\"color: #800000;\">So what happens between June 15 and July 1?<\/span><\/h3>\n<p>June 15 will mark the final day at PUMC for both of our pastors.\u00a0 Pastor Kee and Pastor Larry will enter a time of personal transition (and packing) as they prepare for the move to their new appointments.<\/p>\n<p>Pastor Larry&#8217;s final Sunday with us as our senior pastor will be on June 15.\u00a0 At that time he will discontinue normal office hours and end his normal involvement in the day to day operations of the church. However, he will technically remain our senior pastor until July 1 when Rev. Bolton&#8217;s appointment begins.<\/p>\n<p>Between June 15 and June 30 Pastor Larry will be available for emergency pastoral needs. \u00a0 If a crisis arises, contact the church office.<\/p>\n<p>On July 1, Rev. Bolton will become our senior pastor and Rev.\u00a0 Potts will become the pastor of the Franklinville UMC.\u00a0 We have only one senior pastor at a time.<\/p>\n<p>This schedule is given by the Conference; all churches with new appointments throughout the Greater New Jersey Annual Conference are following similar schedules.\u00a0 This two week period gives clergy a pause to &#8220;take a breath&#8221; and\u00a0 &#8220;shift gears&#8221; before entering into their new responsibilities in a new home.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<div class='et-box et-bio'>\n\t\t\t\t\t<div class='et-box-content'><p><span style=\"color: #000000;\">We are indeed a Connectional Church. As we prepare for the arrival of our new pastor, Rev. Jim Bolton, the Franklinville UMC prepares for the arrival of Rev.
