On 5\/12\/18, area churches teamed up together to hold a dinner and Praise Band concert in our church.\u00a0 The purpose was to raise funds (and awareness) for a mission trip to Puerto Rico which members of the First United Methodist Church of Glassboro will take during the summer of 2018.\u00a0 In the Fall of 2017, the island was devastated by two hurricanes.\u00a0 During their upcoming trip, the team from Glassboro plans to clean up debris, repair homes, and to just simply be present with the love of Christ.<\/span><\/em><\/p>\n

Traveling is expensive.\u00a0 Traveling to build and repair is even more expensive, since the team needs to provide many of the supplies.\u00a0 The dinner, auction, and concert at PUMC raised over $5000 for this trip!\u00a0 Indirectly, by hosting this concert and by continuing to support the Glassboro mission team, we are helping the people of Puerto Rico to recover from the 2017 hurricanes…<\/span><\/em><\/p>\n

Puerto Rico’s Need…<\/span><\/h3>\n

On September 7, 2017 Hurricane Irma slammed into the Caribbean and made its way through Florida and up the East coast of the US.\u00a0 Then, two weeks later Hurricane Maria hit Puerto Rico with a direct blow.\u00a0\u00a0 The double whammy left this US territory with major flooding (30 inches in some areas!) and massive power outages (over 1 million people without electricity).<\/p>\n
