(4\/15\/18)"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>PUMC has always supported global missionaries, and we&#8217;ve built up a relationship with many of them over the years.\u00a0 One of these missionary couple is the Vanderhoofs.\u00a0 Jim and Alice have been serving in Kenya since 1984 and have visited PUMC many times.<\/p>\n<div id=\"attachment_646\" style=\"width: 169px\" class=\"wp-caption alignright\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-646\" class=\"size-full wp-image-646\" src=\"https:\/\/pitmanumc.org\/wp\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/02\/vanderhoof.gif\" alt=\"\" width=\"159\" height=\"212\" \/><p id=\"caption-attachment-646\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">Jim &amp; Alice Vanderhoof<\/p><\/div>\n<p>We&#8217;ll have a chance to catch up with them on Sunday April 15 (both services).\u00a0 Jim and Alice will report on what they&#8217;ve been doing and to witness to what the Lord has been doing through them.\u00a0 After serving on the mission field since 1982, Jim and Alice have decided to remain in the US and to begin a new phase of their ministry.<\/p>\n<p>Their mission field is now in the US, and they live in Waverly, N.Y.\u00a0 They are Ministry Mobilizers; recruiting, training, encouraging, and promoting opportunities for service, both locally and worldwide.\u00a0 Pray for them as they bring us a message that will equip us to bring the light of the gospel to Pitman; make healthy disciples here at PUMC; and become more engaged in fulfilling\u00a0 the Great Commission.<\/p>\n<p><div class='et-box et-info'>\n\t\t\t\t\t<div class='et-box-content'><span style=\"color: #000000;\">Jesus&#8217; final command, just before ascending to heaven, is given in Matthew 28:18-20.\u00a0 It&#8217;s generally known as &#8220;<strong>The Great Commission<\/strong>&#8220;&#8230;<\/span><\/p>\n<p>&#8220;<span style=\"color: #000000;\"><em><span style=\"color: #ff0000;\">Then Jesus came to them and said, &#8220;All authority in heaven and on earth has been given to me.\u00a0 Therefore go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit,\u00a0 and teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you.
