The day was Palm Sunday; a special sabbath for celebrating the arrival of our King and Savior into Jerusalem.<\/span><\/em><\/p>\n

But like any other opportunity when we gather, it was also a time to reach out and help the needy.\u00a0 Palm Branches helped us worship, but Daffodils and Diapers helped us to help others.<\/span><\/em><\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

Daffodils<\/span><\/h3>\n

Each year at this time, we sell pots of daffodils.\u00a0 These yellow flowers do more than to just brighten up our springtime homes;\u00a0 the proceeds go to the the American Cancer society to help fight this deadly \"\"disease (and all of its many variants).<\/p>\n

The order forms were included in the bulletins several weeks ago, and over 50 pots of daffodils were ordered.\u00a0 Additionally, many people gave a straight-up donation without purchasing the flowers.\u00a0<\/p>\n

Thanks to these little yellow flowers and to the other donations, we were able to send over $500 to the American Cancer Society.\u00a0<\/p>\n

Diapers<\/span><\/h3>\n

Our United Methodist Women added to our Palm Sunday spirit of missions, when we collected packages of diapers for families with young children.\u00a0 Diapers are not cheep; bearing this cost can be difficult for a needy family.\u00a0 So, we got together, put a basket out in our Narthex, and PUMC’ers filled the basket with \"\"donations.<\/p>\n

We were blessed to be able to donate over 30 packages of diapers to the Neighborhood Center in Camden.<\/p>\n

The Neighborhood Center<\/span><\/a>, located in Camden NJ, is an urban outreach center founded by the New Jersey Conference of the United Methodist church. It provides a safe place for children, parents, and seniors to support each other.\u00a0<\/p>\n

Our Women’s group supports the Neighborhood Center in many ways throughout the year. Our next benefit is the Mother’s Day Loaf Cake Sale to benefit the Neighborhood Center Summer Camp.<\/span><\/div><\/div>\n
