{"id":16905,"date":"2017-12-09T09:47:02","date_gmt":"2017-12-09T13:47:02","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/pitmanumc.org\/wp\/?p=16905"},"modified":"2020-04-30T16:52:44","modified_gmt":"2020-04-30T20:52:44","slug":"preschool-teaches-the-true-meaning-of-christmas-12-7-17","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/pitmanumc.org\/wp\/?p=16905","title":{"rendered":"Preschool Teaches The True Meaning of Christmas (12\/7\/17)"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>On Thursday December 7, the Pre-K classes of our Our Father&#8217;s House Preschool presented their annual Christmas Pageant.\u00a0 Mary, Joseph, Friendly Beasts, Shepherds, Wise Men, a Star, and even a pajama girl gathered around the manger to welcome the Baby Jesus.\u00a0\u00a0 About 50 children participated, and the sanctuary was filled with proud parents pointing their cell phone cameras towards their youngsters.<img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignright size-medium wp-image-16907\" src=\"https:\/\/pitmanumc.org\/wp\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/12\/OFHxmas17-_sr20171207_101802-300x225.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"300\" height=\"225\" srcset=\"https:\/\/pitmanumc.org\/wp\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/12\/OFHxmas17-_sr20171207_101802-300x225.jpg 300w, https:\/\/pitmanumc.org\/wp\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/12\/OFHxmas17-_sr20171207_101802.jpg 400w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 300px) 100vw, 300px\" \/><\/p>\n<p>To those who have supported Our Father&#8217;s House by attending these annual pageants, this year may have seemed like many others.\u00a0 And yet- notice the date: this occurred on December 7 (&#8220;the day that will live in infamy&#8221;- as FDR predicted during his speech to congress on 12\/8\/41).\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Perhaps the coincidence of this date should give us pause and beckon us to wonder: is there something special?\u00a0 Is there something I need to remember from this pre-school Christmas presentation?<\/p>\n<p>The music and the story it portrayed were all familiar.\u00a0 The pageant opened with songs like &#8220;Mary Had a Baby&#8221; and &#8220;Shepherds Came to See Him&#8221;&#8230; songs, costumes, and props that reminded us of the familiar Christmas story.\u00a0 But the pageant also included a Drummer Boy proclaiming his praise.\u00a0 It included songs like &#8220;GO Tell it on a Mountain!&#8221; and wrapped up with &#8220;This Little Light of Mine (I&#8217;m gonna let it Shine)&#8221;.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>More than just familiar nursery songs or a well-worn story from the Bible.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>We were reminded that we too need to proclaim God with our own &#8220;drums.&#8221;\u00a0 That we are to go forward, changed.\u00a0 That we too are called to &#8220;shine our light&#8221; font-size: 14pt;\">Glory to God in the highest, and on earth, peace among men with whom God is pleased!<\/span><\/strong><\/em><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: right;\"><span style=\"color: #008000; font-size: 14pt;\">&#8211;
