Halloween?!? It’s a holiday that doesn’t have the same inspirational significance of Easter, or Christmas, but it is a celebration of family. It’s a chance for families to get out together and to meet their neighbors. Sometimes, the only time you connect with your neighbors is on that \"\"chilly October night when you take your kids door to door to collect treats… and to say “hello” and “I remember when ___ was a baby!”… “How he’s grown!”… “Has it been that long?”…<\/p>\n

Trivial things; costumes, candy and saying “hello.” But it is a time where memories can be created and relationships can be strengthened.<\/p>\n

But sending your kids out into the streets in the dark does introduce an element of danger. And so, for 7 years PUMC has provided families with the opportunity to enjoy Halloween in a safe and fun environment.<\/p>\n

One the evening of Saturday 10\/28\/17, somewhere around 250-275 kids brought their parents to PUMC to browse through the decorated trunks in our parking lot, collect candy, bounce on the outdoor slide, and enjoy some indoor games. Around 800 of our neighbors came over and enjoyed the festivities.<\/p>\n

There was actually a contest running behind the scenes; the parents got to vote for their favorite trunk. The owners of 14 cars decorated their trunks and shared their creations this year. The winner? A trunk decorated with scenes from the Wizard of Oz! Also drawing praise were trunks decorated with themes such as Harry Potter (2nd place), and DC\/Marvel super heroes (3rd place).<\/p>\n\n\t\t
