{"id":16253,"date":"2017-09-16T15:44:16","date_gmt":"2017-09-16T19:44:16","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/pitmanumc.org\/wp\/?p=16253"},"modified":"2017-11-25T17:17:03","modified_gmt":"2017-11-25T21:17:03","slug":"youth-building-buckets-for-flood-relief-102917","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/pitmanumc.org\/wp\/?p=16253","title":{"rendered":"Youth Building Buckets for Flood Relief (10\/29\/17)"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Imagine that your home has been flooded.\u00a0 The smell of mildew is everywhere.\u00a0 Dirt coats the floors and counters.\u00a0 One of your biggest needs is something we take for granted: cleaning supplies.\u00a0 Buckets, soaps, laundry detergent, sponges, trash bags&#8230; the list goes on and on.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>As part <img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignright  wp-image-16260\" src=\"https:\/\/pitmanumc.org\/wp\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/09\/UMCOR-Flood-Buckets-_UmcOrg-400x300-300x225.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"221\" height=\"166\" srcset=\"https:\/\/pitmanumc.org\/wp\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/09\/UMCOR-Flood-Buckets-_UmcOrg-400x300-300x225.jpg 300w, https:\/\/pitmanumc.org\/wp\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/09\/UMCOR-Flood-Buckets-_UmcOrg-400x300.jpg 400w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 221px) 100vw, 221px\" \/>of the United Methodist Committed on Relief&#8217;s (<span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><a href=\"http:\/\/www.umc.org\/how-we-serve\/responding-to-disaster\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">UMCOR<\/a><\/span>) efforts, our youth have started a project to collect items to assemble &#8220;Flood Buckets.&#8221;\u00a0 These buckets will be filled with specific cleaning items.<\/p>\n<p>The buckets will be shipped to the flooded areas in Florida and Texas by UMCOR, the mission branch of the United Methodist Church.<\/p>\n<p>Help us by shopping for the items below.\u00a0 You may choose to assemble an entire flood bucket or donate individual items. Bins for drop-off of items will be in the Narthex until Sunday, October\u00a029.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<div class='et-box et-warning'>\n\t\t\t\t\t<div class='et-box-content'><span style=\"color: #000000;\">Please note: UMCOR has spelled out a very specific list of items that are needed in each bucket. Please pay attention to the requirements described below.\u00a0 Sizes are specified to enable shipping and storage.<\/span><\/div><\/div>\n<p>Please donate any of the following items (bins will be provided in the church narthex):<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<h4><span style=\"color: #000080;\">\u00a0The Bucket:\u00a0 5-gallon round bucket with resealable lid<\/span><\/h4>\n<ul style=\"list-style-type: circle;\">\n<li>\u00a0Buckets from fast-food restaurants or bakeries can\u00a0 be used if washed and cleaned<\/li>\n<li>\u00a0Do not use buckets that have stored chemicals such\u00a0 as paint or pool cleaner<\/li>\n<li>\u00a0Advertisements on the outside are acceptable<\/li>\n<li>\u00a0No square buckets (Only round buckets are used to ensure proper stacking during transportation)<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<h4><span style=\"color: #000080;\">Bucket Contents<\/span><\/h4>\n<p>Each bucket will contain the following items (in the specified quantities):<\/p>\n<ul style=\"list-style-type: square;\">\n<li><strong>Liquid laundry detergent:<\/strong> <br \/>\n \u00a0 <em><span style=\"color: #ff0000;\">One 50-oz. or two 25-oz. bottle(s) only<\/span><\/em><\/li>\n<li><strong>Liquid household cleaner:<\/strong> <br \/>\n \u00a0 <em><span style=\"color: #ff0000;\">12\u201016 oz.\u00a0liquid\u00a0cleaner that can be mixed with water. No spray cleaners<\/span><\/em><\/li>\n<li><strong>\u00a0Dish soap:<\/strong> <br \/>\n \u00a0 <em><span style=\"color: #ff0000;\">16\u201028 oz. bottle any brand<\/span><\/em><\/li>\n<li><strong>1 can air freshener:<\/strong><br \/>\n \u00a0 <em><span style=\"color: #ff0000;\">Aerosol or pump<\/span><\/em><\/li>\n<li><strong>1 insect repellent spray: <br \/>\n \u00a0 <\/strong><em><span style=\"color: #ff0000;\">6\u201014 oz. aerosol or spray pump with protective cover<\/span><\/em><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<ul style=\"list-style-type: square;\">\n<li><strong>1 scrub brush:<\/strong> <br \/>\n \u00a0\u00a0<em><span style=\"color: #ff0000;\"> Plastic or wooden handle<\/span><\/em>\u00a0\u00a0<\/li>\n<li><strong>18 cleaning wipes:<\/strong> <br \/>\n \u00a0\u00a0 <em><span style=\"color: #ff0000;\">Handi-Wipes or reusable wipes. No terry cleaning towels. Remove from packaging<\/span><\/em><\/li>\n<li><strong>7 sponges:<\/strong> <br \/>\n \u00a0\u00a0 <em><span style=\"color: #ff0000;\">No cellulose sponges due to mold issues. Remove from wrapper<\/span><\/em><\/li>\n<li><strong>5 scouring pads:<\/strong> <br \/>\n \u00a0\u00a0 <em><span style=\"color: #ff0000;\">Remove from wrapper. No stainless steel, Brillo pads, or SOS pads <br \/>\n \u00a0\u00a0 (nothing with soap built in)<\/span><\/em><\/li>\n<li><strong>50 clothespins\n<p> <\/strong><\/li>\n<li><strong>Clothesline:<\/strong> <br \/>\n \u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 <em><span style=\"color: #ff0000;\">One 100-ft. or two 50-ft. lines. Cotton or plastic<\/span><\/em><\/li>\n<li><strong>24-rolls of heavy-duty trash bags:<\/strong> <br \/>\n \u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 <em><span style=\"color: #ff0000;\">33\u2010 to 45-gallon sizes. Remove from the box<\/span><\/em><\/li>\n<li><strong>5 dust masks\n<p> <\/strong><\/li>\n<li><strong>2 pairs of kitchen dishwashing gloves:<\/strong> <br \/>\n \u00a0\u00a0\u00a0<em><span style=\"color: #ff0000;\"> Should be durable enough for multiple uses. Remove from packaging<\/span><\/em><\/li>\n<li><strong>1 pair of work gloves:<\/strong> <br \/>\n \u00a0\u00a0 <em><span style=\"color: #ff0000;\">Cotton with leather palm or all leather<\/span><\/em><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<h3><span style=\"color: #800000;\">Some other Important Details&#8230;<\/span><\/h3>\n<ul style=\"list-style-type: circle;\">\n<li><span style=\"color: #000000;\">All items must be new except for the actual bucket and lid.\n<p> <\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"color: #000000;\">All cleaning agents must be liquid and in plastic containers.
