{"id":1619,"date":"2014-04-20T11:43:29","date_gmt":"2014-04-20T15:43:29","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/pitmanumc.org\/wp\/?p=1619"},"modified":"2017-10-14T14:18:03","modified_gmt":"2017-10-14T18:18:03","slug":"easter-eggcitement-easter-egg-hunt-41914","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/pitmanumc.org\/wp\/?p=1619","title":{"rendered":"Easter EGGcitement!!!- Easter Egg Hunt (4\/19\/14)"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><span style=\"color: #000000;\">For weeks, the PUMC congregation donated bags of candy.\u00a0 On the day of Maundy Thursday, the Elderberries (our Senior Adult group) gathered together to fill 2600 plastic eggs with candy.\u00a0 Then the day of our annual Easter Egg Hunt arrived on Saturday morning, and over 200 children were in our church!<\/span><\/p>\n<h3><span style=\"color: #800000;\">What&#8217;s an Easter Egg Hunt at\u00a0 PUMC?<\/span><\/h3>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<div id=\"attachment_1651\" style=\"width: 204px\" class=\"wp-caption alignleft\"><a href=\"https:\/\/pitmanumc.org\/wp\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/04\/EggHunt14-FH-Magician_1032.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-1651\" class=\" wp-image-1651\" src=\"https:\/\/pitmanumc.org\/wp\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/04\/EggHunt14-FH-Magician_1032-273x300.jpg\" alt=\"Entertainment before the Easter Egg Hunt (4\/19\/14)\" width=\"194\" height=\"215\" \/><\/a><p id=\"caption-attachment-1651\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">Entertainment before the Easter Egg Hunt (4\/19\/14)<\/p><\/div>\n<p><span style=\"color: #000000;\">If you&#8217;re a kid, it&#8217;s a bit of everything!\u00a0 First you get a chance to decorate your own &#8220;Hunting Bag.&#8221;\u00a0 But if you&#8217;re not the artistic type who loves to dabble in glitter and glue, you could leave the undecorated bag with your mom or dad and turn your attention elsewhere.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #000000;\">And there was a lot to see, thanks to our wandering magician and his balloons.\u00a0 After everyone had their &#8220;Hunting Bags&#8221; in hand, the magician took the stage to demonstrate that the &#8220;hand is sometimes quicker than the eye&#8230;&#8221;<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #000000;\">And then&#8230; the moment everyone was waiting for- like the crack of a starting pistol at a race, everyone (sorry mom &amp; dad-<\/span><\/p>\n<div id=\"attachment_1652\" style=\"width: 213px\" class=\"wp-caption alignright\"><a href=\"https:\/\/pitmanumc.org\/wp\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/04\/EggHunt14-Lawn_1034.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-1652\" class=\"wp-image-1652 \" src=\"https:\/\/pitmanumc.org\/wp\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/04\/EggHunt14-Lawn_1034-300x278.jpg\" alt=\"Easter Egg Hunt (4\/19\/20)\" width=\"203\" height=\"188\" srcset=\"https:\/\/pitmanumc.org\/wp\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/04\/EggHunt14-Lawn_1034-300x278.jpg 300w, https:\/\/pitmanumc.org\/wp\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/04\/EggHunt14-Lawn_1034.jpg 500w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 203px) 100vw, 203px\" \/><\/a><p id=\"caption-attachment-1652\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">Easter Egg Hunt (4\/19\/20)<\/p><\/div>\n<p><span style=\"color: #000000;\">kids got to go first)- was allowed to dash out into the church grounds to find the eggs.\u00a0 Hunters were limited to 10 eggs, so everyone had a chance.\u00a0 After the kids had gathered their quota, the adults were allowed to go out and look for the harder to find eggs.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><em><strong><span style=\"color: #003300;\">And last but not least- Food!<\/span><\/strong><\/em><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #000000;\">After the hunt (or should we say &#8220;mad scramble?&#8221;), lunch was served.\u00a0 You could have your fill of hot dogs, chips, and whatever other goodies that people had donated.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #000000;\">\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<h3><span style=\"color: #800000;\">So&#8230;<\/span><\/h3>\n<p><span style=\"color: #000000;\">So if you were a kid, you had a lot of fun&#8230; and you came home with some treasures that you could munch on for a while.\u00a0 But what about things that are more valuable than candy?\u00a0 What about the things that last a lifetime?\u00a0 What could a kid (and adults) learn from this experience?<br \/>\n<\/span><\/p>\n<h5><span style=\"color: #000080;\">Here&#8217;s a top Five list&#8230;<\/span><\/h5>\n<p><strong>Lesson #5:<\/strong><\/p>\n<div class='et-learn-more clearfix'>\n\t\t\t\t\t<h3 class='heading-more'>Lesson #5<span class='et_learnmore_arrow'><span><\/span><\/span><\/h3>\n\t\t\t\t\t<div class='learn-more-content'><span style=\"color: #000000;\">We&#8217;re At the Corner of Broadway and Lambs!<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #000000;\">This isn&#8217;t &#8220;our church&#8221;&#8230; this is God&#8217;s church, and everyone is welcome.\u00a0<\/span> And j<span style=\"color: #000000;\">ust because you&#8217;re on church property doesn&#8217;t mean you can&#8217;t have fun! In fact, as you read the Bible, you keep seeing how our God has a sense of humor (take a look at how he works with Gideon in <span style=\"text-decoration: underline; color: #000080;\"><a href=\"http:\/\/www.biblegateway.com\/passage\/?search=judges+6-7&amp;version=NLT\" target=\"_blank\"><span style=\"color: #000080; text-decoration: underline;\">Judges<\/span><\/a><\/span> 6-7). One way to love God is to enjoy the good things that He gives us and to marvel at His creation&#8230;. and maybe even laugh along with Him.<\/span><\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n<p><strong>Lesson #4:<\/strong><\/p>\n<div class='et-learn-more clearfix'>\n\t\t\t\t\t<h3 class='heading-more'>Lesson #4<span class='et_learnmore_arrow'><span><\/span><\/span><\/h3>\n\t\t\t\t\t<div class='learn-more-content'><span style=\"color: #000000;\">Life.\u00a0 <\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #000000;\">The egg represents new life.\u00a0 In John 10:10, Jesus said that &#8220;I have come that they may have life and live it to the full.&#8221;\u00a0 True lasting joy in life is to have a relationship with our Creator.\u00a0 That&#8217;s what Jesus offers to us.<\/span><\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n<p><strong>Lesson #3:<\/strong><\/p>\n<div class='et-learn-more clearfix'>\n\t\t\t\t\t<h3 class='heading-more'>Lesson #3<span class='et_learnmore_arrow'><span><\/span><\/span><\/h3>\n\t\t\t\t\t<div class='learn-more-content'><span style=\"color: #000000;\">God&#8217;s Already There!\u00a0 <\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #000000;\">Those eggs didn&#8217;t appear all by themselves as soon as the kids dashed out of the doors.\u00a0 The treasures to be sought were already there.\u00a0 God brings us into situations for a purpose; there are no coincidences.\u00a0 And yet, when we get there, we find that God has already prepared for our arrival.<\/span><\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n<p><strong>Lesson #2:<\/strong><\/p>\n<div class='et-learn-more clearfix'>\n\t\t\t\t\t<h3 class='heading-more'>Lesson #2<span class='et_learnmore_arrow'><span><\/span><\/span><\/h3>\n\t\t\t\t\t<div class='learn-more-content'><span style=\"color: #000000;\">God Seeks Us!\u00a0 <\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #000000;\">Take a look at <span style=\"text-decoration: underline; color: #000080;\"><a href=\"http:\/\/www.biblegateway.com\/passage\/?search=luke+15&amp;version=NLT\" target=\"_blank\"><span style=\"color: #000080; text-decoration: underline;\">Luke chapter 15<\/span><\/a><\/span>.\u00a0 The shepherd, the widow, the father&#8230; they all went out of their way to find that which was lost.\u00a0 They put value on the lost sheep, or lost coin, or lost son. <\/span><\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n<p><strong>Lesson #1:<\/strong><\/p>\n<div class='et-learn-more clearfix'>\n\t\t\t\t\t<h3 class='heading-more'>Lesson #1<span class='et_learnmore_arrow'><span><\/span><\/span><\/h3>\n\t\t\t\t\t<div class='learn-more-content'><span style=\"color: #000000;\">God Loves Us!\u00a0 <\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #000000;\">During this Easter season, we&#8217;re reminded that God <span style=\"text-decoration: underline; color: #000080;\"><a href=\"http:\/\/www.biblegateway.com\/passage\/?search=1+john+4%3A10-12&amp;version=NLT\" target=\"_blank\"><span style=\"color: #000080; text-decoration: underline;\">loves<\/span><\/a> <\/span>us so much that He would send His son to die for us.\u00a0 Even though we keep rejecting God and trying to go our own way, God still wants us to turn to Him.\u00a0 Even if we&#8217;re a little plastic egg among 2600 other little plastic eggs.\u00a0 Even if we&#8217;re lost out in a parking lot somewhere, God loves us enough to die for us. <\/span><\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n<p><span style=\"color: #000000;\">\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #000000;\">\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #000000;\">\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>For weeks, the PUMC congregation donated bags of candy.\u00a0 On the day of Maundy Thursday, the Elderberries (our Senior Adult group) gathered together to fill 2600 plastic eggs with candy.\u00a0 Then the day of our annual Easter Egg Hunt arrived on Saturday morning, and over 200 children were in our church!
