still be in your mind if they hadn&#8217;t been backed up by her example?<\/p>\n<p>And, Father&#8217;s Day is around the corner; what about Dad&#8217;s example?\u00a0 Throughout the year (especially as we get older), we encounter &#8220;services of remembrance&#8221; or &#8220;celebrations of life&#8221; when loved ones pass away.\u00a0 As we look at the saints who came before us, what examples can we glean that can drive us closer to God and to Godly living?\u00a0 But even more importantly, what can we learn from the life of the only perfect person who ever walked the face of this earth; Jesus???<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<h3><span style=\"color: #800000;\">Drops of Example<\/span><\/h3>\n<p>How many drops add up to a gallon?\u00a0 Who knows!?!\u00a0 But here are a few &#8220;Drops of Example&#8221; that can help us take a better measure of our lives&#8230;<\/p>\n\n\t\t\t<div class='et-tabs-container et_sliderfx_fade et_sliderauto_false et_sliderauto_speed_5000 et_slidertype_top_tabs'>\n\t\t\t\t<ul class='et-tabs-control'>\n\t\t\t<li><a href='#'>\n\t\t\t1\n\t\t<\/a><\/li> \n\t\t<li><a href='#'>\n\t\t\t2\n\t\t<\/a><\/li> \n\t\t<li><a href='#'>\n\t\t\t3\n\t\t<\/a><\/li> \n\t\t<li><a href='#'>\n\t\t\t4\n\t\t<\/a><\/li> \n\t\t<li><a href='#'>\n\t\t\t5\n\t\t<\/a><\/li>\u00a0\n\t\t<li><a href='#'>\n\t\t\t6\n\t\t<\/a><\/li>\u00a0\n\t\t<li><a href='#'>\n\t\t\t7\n\t\t<\/a><\/li>\n\t\t<\/ul> <!-- .et-tabs-control --> \n\t\t<div class='et-tabs-content'>\n\t\t\t<div class='et-tabs-content-main-wrap'>\n\t\t\t\t<div class='et-tabs-content-wrapper'>\n\t\t\t\t\t<div class='et_slidecontent'>\n\t\t\t<strong><span style=\"color: #000080;\">Humility<\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n<p>In <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><a href=\"https:\/\/www.biblegateway.com\/passage\/?search=John+13%3A1-17&amp;version=MSG\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">John 13:1-17<\/a><\/span>, Jesus washes His disciple&#8217;s feet and tells us that what He just did is an example of what we should do.\u00a0 But think about it: washing the dirty sand-coated feet of your guests was normally the work of a servant.\u00a0 And&#8230; just who was the host at this Passover meal?\u00a0 Was it Jesus or the disciples?\u00a0 Shouldn&#8217;t somebody have been washing <em>His<\/em> feet???<\/p>\n<p>Jesus didn&#8217;t &#8220;stick his rights&#8221;; He did want was needed.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p><strong><em><span style=\"color: #ff0000;\">Is this drop of example part of our living?<\/span><\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n\t\t<\/div>\n\n\t\t<div class='et_slidecontent'>\n\t\t\t<strong><span style=\"color: #000080;\">Obey God, not Divisions<\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n<p>In <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><a href=\"https:\/\/www.biblegateway.com\/passage\/?search=John+4%3A1-26&amp;version=MSG\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">John 4:1-26<\/a><\/span> Jesus strikes up a conversation with somebody who society said He shouldn&#8217;t even associate with.\u00a0 &#8220;<em><span style=\"color: #ff00ff;\">Just pass through Samaria and stick to your &#8216;own people.<\/span><\/em> &#8221;\u00a0 Beyond this woman being a Samaritan (and a woman), she&#8217;s &#8220;shacking up&#8221; with a man and isn&#8217;t very highly regarded in her community (to say the least). \u00a0 But Jesus doesn&#8217;t feel bound by those divisions.\u00a0 Instead, He shares the truth about &#8220;Living Water&#8221; with her.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Verse 4 says that He HAD to go through Samaria.\u00a0 Samaria wasn&#8217;t just an obstacle on the map; it was a destination that God called Him to.\u00a0 His meeting with this woman didn&#8217;t come by chance.\u00a0 God was behind it.\u00a0 Because of Jesus&#8217; conversation with this woman, many in that region became believers, and God&#8217;s will was fulfilled.<\/p>\n<p><strong><em><span style=\"color: #ff0000;\">Is this drop of example part of our living?<\/span><\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n\t\t<\/div>\n\n\t\t<div class='et_slidecontent'>\n\t\t\t<strong><span style=\"color: #000080;\">Forgive first, Judge Last<\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n<p>In <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><a href=\"https:\/\/www.biblegateway.com\/passage\/?search=John+8%3A1-11&amp;version=MSG\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">John 8:1-11<\/a><\/span> the righteous religious leaders brutally threw a woman to the ground at Jesus&#8217; feet.\u00a0 She had committed adultery.\u00a0 Regardless of whether it was a trap or not, SHE had done a bad thing.\u00a0 Even though &#8220;it takes two to tango&#8221; and the man was just as guilty, it was this woman who needed to be stoned.<\/p>\n<p>But Jesus sees through the hypocrisy of the world which calls for brutal &#8220;thumbs up \/ thumbs down&#8221; justice.\u00a0 He is driven by His mission statement (Luke 19:10)-\u00a0\u00a0 &#8220;<em><span style=\"color: #ff0000;\">For the Son of Man came to seek and to save what was lost.<\/span><\/em>&#8221; <\/p>\n<p> This woman <span style=\"color: #000000;\"><em>was<\/em><\/span> lost; Jesus told her to &#8220;<em><span style=\"color: #ff0000;\">leave your life of sin.<\/span><\/em>&#8221;\u00a0 But He also tells her to &#8220;<em><span style=\"color: #ff0000;\">Go and sin no more.<\/span><\/em>&#8221;\u00a0 On that day, no stones were cast.\u00a0 In this passage He gives us an example of how we should blend justice with love.<\/p>\n<p><strong><em><span style=\"color: #ff0000;\">Is this drop of example part of our living?<\/span><\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n\t\t<\/div>\n\n\t\t<div class='et_slidecontent'>\n\t\t\t<strong><span style=\"color: #000080;\">True to your word<\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><a href=\"https:\/\/www.biblegateway.com\/passage\/?search=1+samuel+1&amp;version=MSG\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">1 Samuel 1<\/a><\/span>\u00a0 tells us the story of Hannah.\u00a0 Hannah was more than a palindrome; she was a wife in a rough spot.\u00a0 Back in her day, a wife&#8217;s main job in life was to bear an heir for her husband.\u00a0 Hannah&#8217;s husband was Elkanah, and they loved eachother very much.\u00a0 But, she was barron.<\/p>\n<p>And so Elkanah did what was pretty common in that day; he took on another wife.\u00a0 Her name was Peninnah, and she did bear &#8220;their&#8221; husband children.\u00a0 Elkanah&#8217;s line would continue through Peninnah; not through his true love, Hannah.<\/p>\n<p>So Hannah made a vow to God.\u00a0 &#8220;If you give me a son, I will give him back to you.&#8221;\u00a0 He will become a Nazerite and serve in the Tabernacle.\u00a0 In other words, she would give birth to this child and then give him up for adoption&#8230; IF God actually gave her a son.<\/p>\n<p>Well, it actually happened- God DID give her a son!\u00a0 Now what?\u00a0 It would be easy to wave away that vow; &#8220;God, you know I didn&#8217;t really mean it&#8230; You know that he&#8217;ll be better off if he stayed with me&#8230; He&#8217;ll just get in the priest&#8217;s way if he stays in the Tabernacle&#8230;&#8221;\u00a0 The list could go on and on.\u00a0 But, whether or not\u00a0 it was right for Hannah to make the vow in the first place, she followed through.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p><strong><em><span style=\"color: #ff0000;\">Is this drop of example part of our living?<\/span><\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n\t\t<\/div>\n\n\t\t<div class='et_slidecontent'>\n\t\t\t<strong><span style=\"color: #000080;\">Imagination and Dedication<\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Drops of examples are not confined to the pages of the Bible; we are surrounded by them in our daily lives.\u00a0 Drops of examples flow from people who are infused by the love and power of the Holy Spirit.<\/p>\n<p>Do a search on this website for &#8220;BLAST&#8221; (our youth group).\u00a0 You&#8217;ll find countless activities that required an inspired imagination to plan and selfless dedication to pull off.\u00a0 Or, do a search through your own memory- Youth Group Leaders, Sunday School Teachers, Pastors, Parents, Scout Leaders&#8230;\u00a0 Chances are pretty good that somebody will stick out in your mind.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>God sends us Drops of Examples through the love and dedication of His people.<\/p>\n<p><strong><em><span style=\"color: #ff0000;\">Is this drop of example part of our living?<\/span><\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n\t\t<\/div>\n\n\t\t<div class='et_slidecontent'>\n\t\t\t<strong><span style=\"color: #000080;\">Giving your time when you don&#8217;t have any to give<\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: 24pt; color: #0000ff;\">&#8220;<\/span><em><span style=\"color: #993366;\">It was a call anyone would dread to receive.\u00a0 I returned home after spending the entire day in an ICU room with my wife, and the doctor called: &#8216;The end is nearing.\u00a0 You should come back now.&#8217;\u00a0\u00a0 It was 10 PM, but when I returned to the hospital my pastor was already there.\u00a0 He prayed with us, explained things to us, cried with us, and even spent the night with us in the waiting room.\u00a0 At 9 AM the end came, and we prayed my wife into glory.<\/span><\/em><span style=\"font-size: 24pt; color: #0000ff;\">&#8220;<\/span><\/p>\n<p>A pastor is &#8220;on duty&#8221; 24\/7.\u00a0 Days are never short.\u00a0 The thing you want most is a good night&#8217;s sleep, and the thing you want least is to spend the night in a hospital waiting room.\u00a0 But love has a way of pushing you beyond your own limitations.\u00a0 You give drops of example without even realizing it.<\/p>\n<p><strong><em><span style=\"color: #ff0000;\">Is this drop of example part of our living?<\/span><\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n\t\t<\/div>\n\n\t\t<div class='et_slidecontent'>\n\t\t\t<strong><span style=\"color: #000080;\">Praise, God&#8230;<\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n<p>On May 9, 2017, we held a celebration of life service for member John Shaerer.\u00a0 John was a teacher by profession.\u00a0 And a teacher imparts wisdom; he gives advice.<\/p>\n<p>But over and over, people spoke of John&#8217;s example.\u00a0 \n &#8220;<em><span style=\"color: #ff00ff;\">He had a way of making you feel that you could succeed<\/span><\/em>&#8220;&#8230;\u00a0\u00a0 \n &#8220;<em><span style=\"color: #ff00ff;\">You could just feel Jesus flowing from his heart and into his voice as he sang<\/span><\/em>&#8220;&#8230;\u00a0\u00a0 \n &#8220;<em><span style=\"color: #ff00ff;\">He didn&#8217;t just sing &#8216;He touched me&#8217;- he sang JESUS touched me.<\/span><\/em>&#8221; &#8230;\u00a0\u00a0 \n &#8220;<em><span style=\"color: #ff00ff;\">He helped me learn how to pitch. After every game he got behind the plate and caught<\/span><\/em>&#8220;&#8230;\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 \n &#8220;<em><span style=\"color: #ff00ff;\">He was always willing to help me out with the service<\/span><\/em>&#8220;&#8230;\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 \n &#8220;<em><span style=\"color: #ff00ff;\">Whenever there was a tense moment, he diffused it by saying &#8220;Praise, God!<\/span><\/em>&#8220;<\/p>\n<p>His life dripped with Praise for God.\u00a0 Over and over, the actions of this man&#8217;s life gave an example of what it means to put Jesus first.<\/p>\n<p><strong><em><span style=\"color: #ff0000;\">Is this drop of example part of our living?<\/span><\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t<\/div> <!-- .et-tabs-container -->\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<h3><span style=\"color: #800000;\">Wise Advice<\/span><\/h3>\n<p>As we grow through this life we learn lessons.\u00a0 We make mistakes that teach us how to navigate through choppy waters, and the next time we face similar situations we&#8217;re prepared to do better.\u00a0 And when we see someone else headed into the same torrents we have faced, we are obligated to share our experiences and help someone benefit from our lessons.<\/p>\n<p>Advice given in loving humility is part of our call as Christians.<\/p>\n<p>But, &#8220;Talking the Talk&#8221; has no power unless we can back it up by &#8220;walking the walk.&#8221;\u00a0 There&#8217;s another signboard message that carries the same truth:<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><strong><span style=\"color: #008000;\">Preach a sermon.\u00a0 Use words is necessary.<\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n<p>This familiar verse in James 2:18 says the same thing:<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><strong><span style=\"color: #008000;\">Show me your faith without deeds, and I will show you my faith by what I do.<\/span> <\/strong><\/p>\n<p>As we walk through our lives, it&#8217;s easy to offer &#8220;Gallons of Advice.&#8221;\u00a0 But in the little things we do, are we constantly radiating &#8220;Drops of Examples&#8221;?\u00a0 And, are we even noticing the Drops of Examples that come our way through other people?<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><strong><span style=\"color: #008000;
