The Junior Chor kicks in some vocals<\/p><\/div>\n

It was a record setting Sunday… or at least different in many ways.\u00a0 In the morning, PUMC’ers dressed down in their favorite team jersey garb.\u00a0 Some of us even wore our new PUMC sweatshirts.\u00a0 Pastor Jim wore his favorite Jerry Rice 49’ers jersey.<\/p>\n

In his sermon (and throughout the service), Pastor Jim turned the popularity of the super bowl into a series of object lessons about how we can be part of God’s Team… of how we can join up with God for a certain victory.\u00a0 The items in the bulletin all had a football theme:<\/p>\n\n\t\t

\n\t\t\t The “Opening Prayer…” was now “The Huddle Up<\/span><\/strong>“<\/span>\n\t\t<\/div>\n\n\t\t
\n\t\t\tThe “Call to Worship…<\/span><\/strong>“<\/span>\n\t\t<\/div>\n\n\t\t
\n\t\t\tThe “Call to Worship…”<\/span> became “The Kick-Off<\/span><\/strong>“<\/span>\n\t\t<\/div>\n\n\t\t

\n\t\t\tThe “Offering”…<\/span> was replaced with “The Coin Toss<\/span><\/strong>“<\/span>\n\t\t<\/div>\n\n\t\t
\n\t\t\tThe “Announcements<\/span><\/strong>“…<\/span>\n\t\t<\/div>\n\n\t\t
\n\t\t\tThe “Announcements”…<\/span> occurred during “Half Time<\/span><\/strong>“<\/span>\n\t\t<\/div>\n\n\t\t
\n\t\t\tThe “Scripture Reading…<\/span><\/strong>“<\/span>\n\t\t<\/div>\n\n\t\t
\n\t\t\tThe “Scripture Reading…”<\/span> was now called “Reading the Playbook<\/span><\/strong>“<\/span>\n\t\t<\/div>\n\n\t\t
\n\t\t\tNo more “Sermon…<\/span><\/strong>“<\/span>\n\t\t<\/div>\n\n\t\t
\n\t\t\tThe “Sermon…”<\/span> was now called “Studying the Game Plan<\/span><\/strong>“<\/span>\n\t\t<\/div>\n\n\t\t

\n\t\t\tThe “Postlude…”<\/span> turned into “Entering the Playing Field<\/span><\/strong>“<\/span>\n\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/div> \n\t\t\n

We even “called an audible” and sang a hymn not listed in the bulletin (- “Souvenir Program”): “V\u00a0is\u00a0for\u00a0Victory”<\/p>\n

How many times do we miss out on unplanned opportunities to worship and serve God because we’re not tuned into the “Play Book”?<\/span><\/div><\/div>\n

We didn’t just take the offering as usual.\u00a0 During the second service Pastor Jim and two of the ushers taught us an object lesson about giving our gifts so that God can put them to use for His victory.\u00a0 No- this morning wasn’t just the normal collection of the offering.\u00a0 Take a look at the “Coin Toss” part of Sunday’s service…<\/span><\/p>\n
