Even if you don’t live in Atlanta or Foxboro, Sunday February 5 is going to be a big (“Super”) day.\u00a0 Even if you’re not a football fan, a lot of good things (er- “super” things) are happening on this day.\u00a0 Here’s the count down:<\/p>\n

1:<\/span> \u00a0 We’ll hold two worship services<\/a><\/span> (9:30 and 11:00… the “normal schedule”).\u00a0<\/p>\n

2:<\/span> \u00a0 We’ll observe our annual “Dress Down Sunday<\/a><\/span>”\u00a0 Wear your favorite sports jersey.<\/p>\n

3:<\/span> \u00a0 There won’t be an offering!\u00a0 Instead, it will be the “Coin Toss!”<\/p>\n

4:<\/span> \u00a0 After each service, the UMW will distribute the soup<\/a><\/span> that has been ordered.<\/p>\n

And if that’s not enough, here’s #5…<\/p>\n

5:<\/span> \u00a0 We’re collecting soup for the Pitman Food Pantry<\/a><\/span>!<\/p>\n

Not only will we be picking up quarts of homemade soup for ourselves, but on this “Super” (or… “Souper”) Sunday, we’ll share some warmth with our neighbors who depend on the Pitman Food Pantry.<\/p>\n

Pastor Jim laid down the challenge:\u00a0 Let’s collect 1000 cans of soup for the pantry on Feb. 5!\u00a0 This wasn’t an April Fools joke (that’s a couple of months off).\u00a0 If everybody brings in a few cans of soup, we can stock the pantry shelves.<\/p>\n

So when you come to church on Sunday Feb. 5, bring the following:<\/p>\n

    \n
  1. A heart pre-prayerd to worship.<\/li>\n
  2. An attire prepared to cheer on “your team.”<\/li>\n
  3. A sense of humor for Pastor Jim’s dry bulletin humor.<\/li>\n
  4. An appitite for the UMW soup.<\/li>\n
  5. AND- at least one can of soup for the Pantry (and maybe a box?<\/em><\/span>)<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n

    The altar will serve as the Endzone to collect the soup.\u00a0 During the service you’ll have a chance to lay your soup on the altar.\u00a0 After the 11:00 service, the cans will be boxed and taken to the Pitman Food Pantry.<\/p>\n

    \n\t\t\t\t\t
    One thousand cans of soup take up a lot of space, so we need some boxes!\u00a0 If you can donate any small boxes (something like 1’x’1’x 1′ or thereabouts), please bring them on Sunday.\u00a0 A large box can hold a lot of soup cans… but it doesn’t take too many cans before you have to arms like an offensive lineman to be able to lift it! <\/span><\/p>\n

    We’ll also need help transporting the soup to the pantry (down the street from PUMC on Broadway at the First Baptist Church).\u00a0 If you’re available, please stick around to help.\u00a0<\/span><\/div><\/div>\n

    Don’t pass it up!\u00a0 Know the Score!\u00a0 When you come to church, be prepared to visit the Endzone and score a touchdown with some soup cans.\u00a0 It will be a Super day of worship, community, and sharing.<\/p>\n
