It&#8217;s always been presented on the Sunday before Christmas&#8230; at 4:15 PM. Yes, 4:15 PM! No clue where that time came from, but&#8230; It&#8217;s Tradition! It always happens!<img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignright size-medium wp-image-9969\" src=\"https:\/\/pitmanumc.org\/wp\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/12\/Christmas-Eve15-choir-_IMG_1460-copySM-300x225.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"300\" height=\"225\" srcset=\"https:\/\/pitmanumc.org\/wp\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/12\/Christmas-Eve15-choir-_IMG_1460-copySM-300x225.jpg 300w, https:\/\/pitmanumc.org\/wp\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/12\/Christmas-Eve15-choir-_IMG_1460-copySM.jpg 400w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 300px) 100vw, 300px\" \/><\/p>\n<p>And so another Christmas is upon us. Tradition! It always happens!<\/p>\n<p>But is that all it is??? Habit? Tradition?<\/p>\n<p>Christmas isn&#8217;t only a tradition; It&#8217;s an opportunity. It&#8217;s a challenge. Do we just jump into the traditions and let it slip past&#8230; again? Or do we take advantage of the opportunity to use this season to grow closer to our Lord? To make this Christmas special?<\/p>\n<p><strong><span style=\"color: #ff0000;\">Adore.<\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n<p>We are called to love the Lord our God above everything else. Do you Adore Jesus? As you read through the Psalms, do you share David&#8217;s enthusiasm and love for his God?<\/p>\n\n\t\t\t<div class='et-tabs-container et_sliderfx_slide et_sliderauto_false et_sliderauto_speed_5002 et_slidertype_top_tabs'>\n\t\t\t\t<ul class='et-tabs-control'>\n\t\t\t<li><a href='#'>\n\t\t\t100\n\t\t<\/a><\/li> \n\t\t<li><a href='#'>\n\t\t\t101\n\t\t<\/a><\/li> \n\t\t<li><a href='#'>\n\t\t\t103\n\t\t<\/a><\/li> \n\t\t<li><a href='#'>\n\t\t\t104\n\t\t<\/a><\/li> \n\t\t<li><a href='#'>\n\t\t\t105\n\t\t<\/a><\/li> \n\t\t<li><a href='#'>\n\t\t\t107\n\t\t<\/a><\/li>\n\t\t<\/ul> <!-- .et-tabs-control --> \n\t\t<div class='et-tabs-content'>\n\t\t\t<div class='et-tabs-content-main-wrap'>\n\t\t\t\t<div class='et-tabs-content-wrapper'>\n\t\t\t\t\t<div class='et_slidecontent'>\n\t\t\t<strong><span style=\"color: #0000ff;\">Psalm 100:1-3<\/span><\/strong> Shout for joy to the Lord, all the earth. Worship the Lord with gladness; come before him with joyful songs. Know that the Lord is God. It is he who made us, and we are his; we are his people, the sheep of his pasture.\n\t\t<\/div> \n\t\t<div class='et_slidecontent'>\n\t\t\t<strong><span style=\"color: #0000ff;\">Psalm 101:1-2<\/span><\/strong> I will sing of your love and justice; to you, O Lord, I will sing praise. I will be careful to lead a blameless life \u2014 when will you come to me?\n\t\t<\/div> \n\t\t<div class='et_slidecontent'>\n\t\t\t<strong><span style=\"color: #0000ff;\">Psalm 103:1-2<\/span><\/strong> Praise the Lord, O my soul; all my inmost being, praise his holy name. Praise the Lord, O my soul, and forget not all his benefits\n\t\t<\/div> \n\t\t<div class='et_slidecontent'>\n\t\t\t<strong><span style=\"color: #0000ff;\">Psalm 104:1<\/span><\/strong> Praise the Lord, O my soul. O Lord my God, you are very great; you are clothed with splendor and majesty.\n\t\t<\/div> \n\t\t<div class='et_slidecontent'>\n\t\t\t<strong><span style=\"color: #0000ff;\">Psalm 105:2-4<\/span><\/strong> Sing to him, sing praise to him; tell of all his wonderful acts. Glory in his holy name; let the hearts of those who seek the Lord rejoice. Look to the Lord and his strength; seek his face always.\n\t\t<\/div> \n\t\t<div class='et_slidecontent'>\n\t\t\t<strong><span style=\"color: #0000ff;\">Psalm 107:1-2, 42-43<\/span><\/strong> Give thanks to the Lord, for he is good; his love endures forever. Let the redeemed of the Lord say this \u2014 those he redeemed from the hand of the foe&#8230; The upright see and rejoice, but all the wicked shut their mouths. Whoever is wise, let him heed these things and consider the great love of the Lord.\n\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t<\/div> <!-- .et-tabs-container -->\n<p><strong><span style=\"color: #ff0000;\">Adore.<\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n<p>David&#8217;s thoughts were always centered on God.<\/p>\n<p>Jesus tells us that we are called to &#8220;<em><span style=\"color: #ff0000;\">Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind and with all your strength<\/span><\/em>.&#8221; (Mark 12:30-31)<\/p>\n<p><strong><span style=\"color: #ff0000;\">Adore.<\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n<p>A single worship service may not take your level of Adoration from 0 to 60 in one hour. But, it&#8217;s probably a safe bet to say that most of us don&#8217;t praise God with the same intensity as David, or that we don&#8217;t love God to the extent that Jesus is calling us.<\/p>\n<p>And so, Christmas offers us opportunities to nudge the Adoration needle forward. To open ourselves up to the Holy Spirit so that we can grow closer to God through our relationship with His Son.<\/p>\n<p><strong><span style=\"color: #ff0000;\">Adore.<\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Christian Singer \/ Songwriter Chris Tomlin has released a CD entitled &#8220;Adore.&#8221; It&#8217;s a collection of traditional and contemporary music that guides us through prophecy, birth, and worship.<\/p>\n<div class='et-box et-shadow'>\n\t\t\t\t\t<div class='et-box-content'><p><iframe loading=\"lazy\" title=\"Chris Tomlin - Adore (Live)\" width=\"500\" height=\"281\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/br-Ql1zVcUc?feature=oembed\" frameborder=\"0\" allow=\"accelerometer; autoplay; clipboard-write; encrypted-media; gyroscope; picture-in-picture; web-share\" referrerpolicy=\"strict-origin-when-cross-origin\" allowfullscreen><\/iframe><\/p><\/div><\/div>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>For this year&#8217;s cantata, the choirs will present the music from this CD along with some additional traditional carols.
