Our Youth Fellowship Group- BLAST (Big Loud Awesome Spiritual Time) led our worship services on Sunday June 26. They led both in music and in Word.<\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

Music…<\/span><\/h3>\n

The choir and praise team were given the week “off”, and the services’ music was led by guitarist Lance Bird, percussionist Jeremy Andrade, and Bassist Melissa Brown.\u00a0 Other BLAST’ers gathered around the mics to lead the singing.<\/p>\n

Word…<\/span><\/h3>\n

Three passages from Scripture were used to help us see how God works through us to help eachother.\u00a0 Others can Sight God through our actions.<\/p>\n

\n\t\t\t\t\t

Acts 4:29-31<\/span><\/span><\/h3>\n\t\t\t\t\t
And now, O Lord, hear their threats, and give us, your servants, great boldness in preaching your word.\u00a0 Stretch out your hand with healing power; may miraculous signs and wonders be done through the name of your holy servant Jesus.”\u00a0 After this prayer, the meeting place shook, and they were all filled with the Holy Spirit. Then they preached the word of God with boldness.<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>
\n\t\t\t\t\t

Romans 15:13-14<\/span><\/span><\/h3>\n\t\t\t\t\t
I pray that God, the source of hope, will fill you completely with joy and peace because you trust in him. Then you will overflow with confident hope through the power of the Holy Spirit.<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>
\n\t\t\t\t\t

Philippians 2:1-5<\/span><\/span><\/h3>\n\t\t\t\t\t
Is there any encouragement from belonging to Christ? Any comfort from his love? Any fellowship together in the Spirit? Are your hearts tender and compassionate?\u00a0 Then make me truly happy by agreeing wholeheartedly with each other, loving one another, and working together with one mind and purpose.<\/p>\n

Don’t be selfish; don’t try to impress others. Be humble, thinking of others as better than yourselves. Don’t look out only for your own interests, but take an interest in others, too.<\/p>\n

You must have the same attitude that Christ Jesus had.\u00a0<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div><\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

God Sightings<\/span><\/h4>\n

A time of “God Sightings” has become a tradition at PUMC’s Vacation Bible School.\u00a0 AFter the VBS classes are done for the day, the kids think of times during the evening where they have seen God. It \"VBS14can be through a kind word, something in nature, love of family, or even a pet.\u00a0 These “God Sightings” are written on paper feet which are then taped to the walls around the sanctuary.<\/p>\n

Following the VBS lead, BLAST challenged the congregation to write down some “God Sightings” before the service.\u00a0 Blank “God Sighting” cards were distributed before the service and then collected later on.\u00a0 During the sermon, the sightings were read.\u00a0 Here are a few of them…<\/p>\n\n\t\t

\n\t\t\tEverything!\n\t\t<\/div> \n\t\t
\n\t\t\tSunsets…\n\t\t<\/div> \n\t\t
\n\t\t\tYouth leading the worship service…\n\t\t<\/div> \n\t\t
\n\t\t\tMy Marriage…\n\t\t<\/div> \n\t\t
\n\t\t\tBirds singing in the early morning…\n\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/div> \n\t\t\n

The sermon was led by Melissa Brown and Hope Brown (no relation!).\u00a0 Melissa and Hope presented examples of people in the church who had influenced them.\u00a0 These people made an impact on them because they were being led by the Holy Spirit.\u00a0 They identified three areas where God Sightings were evident through these people:<\/p>\n

Passionate<\/span><\/strong>.
\nGod shines through people who set their own priorities aside to pick up an enthusiasm and total dedication to serving God.\u00a0 Their love- Passion- shines through.<\/p>\n

Joyful<\/span><\/strong>.
\nCertain people just seem to always emanate Joy and Happiness.\u00a0 There’s always a smile on their faces.\u00a0 They’re always quick to give an encouraging word, and you just like to be around them.\u00a0 People who are like that are filled with the Holy Spirit, and God’s joy overflows through them.<\/p>\n

Spirit Led<\/span><\/strong>.
\nSome people have gone through tremendous hardships and yet their faith remains strong.\u00a0 And actually, in most cases, their faith is stronger because of the trials they’ve endured.<\/p>\n

Do our Passion, Joy, and Spirit allow God to be seen through us?\u00a0 What Christ-like traits do people see in you???<\/p>\n
