Our church in ‘lil ‘ole Pitman can use the Connection of the United Methodist church to help people across the world!\u00a0 <\/span><\/em><\/p>\n

One of the opportunities to make a global difference will come to us on Sunday May 22.\u00a0 This week has been designated by the United Methodist Church as “Peace with Justice” Sunday. On this day, Methodists world wide will take up a special offering to fund grassroots efforts that help make the world a more compassionate place to live.<\/span><\/em><\/p>\n

Peace with Justice Sunday…<\/span><\/h3>\n

Pentecost celebrates the outpouring of the Holy Spirit calling for God’s shalom. Peace With Justice witnesses to God’s demand for a faithful, just, disarmed, secure, and peaceful world.<\/span><\/p>\n

\"Peace<\/p>\n

Peace With Justice<\/a><\/span> is one of six special programs created by the United Methodist general conference. Since 1980, volunteers have been recruited in local annual conferences and Peace With Justice ministries have sprung up throughout the church. These programs are supported by a special offering on the Sunday after Pentecost, and by grants from United Methodist Shared Ministries. These funds empower peace makers, sometimes in partnership with other religious and humanitarian groups, to achieve results in real change for real life, locally and globally.<\/span><\/p>\n

United Methodists relate to this special program by seeking peaceful solutions through mediation, creating and supporting peace-related ministries in their conferences, and learning about peaceful, just efforts around the world. Peace With Justice aids and inspires disciples young and old, who are indeed changing lives and changing the world inspired by Christ’s gospel of love and liberation. <\/span><\/p>\n

As United Methodists, we are called upon to care for every one of God’s children, certainly those who have never known peace. Our support of this special program will strengthen the global outreach and conference ministries of the United Methodist Church. We are planting seeds of hope, and making a world of difference.<\/span><\/p>\n

Justice for Ex-Offenders…

Peace with Justice is helping to fund the Exodus House, in Oklahoma City.\u00a0 Exodus House helps recently released offenders find their way back into productive roles in society.\u00a0 The Oklahoma Conference of the United Methodist Church- in partnership with UMC churches worldwide- is breaking the cycle of crime and prison for many people.<\/span><\/p>\n
