A new small group (circle) has been formed for women.\u00a0 It’s called the Martha Circle, and it will meet on the third Friday of each month at 7:00 PM.\u00a0\u00a0 We will meet in the Potter’s Hand Room (which is located behind the sanctuary, on the balcony level).<\/p>\n

Any woman is welcome to attend.<\/p>\n

Who is Martha???<\/span><\/h3>\n

Martha is mentioned in the Bible on three different occasions…<\/p>\n

\n\t\t\t\t\t

Luke 10<\/span><\/span><\/h3>\n\t\t\t\t\t
Luke 10:38-42 38\u00a0\u00a0 As Jesus and the disciples continued on their way to Jerusalem, they came to a certain village where a woman named Martha welcomed them into her home.\u00a0 Her sister, Mary, sat at the Lord’s feet, listening to what he taught.\u00a0 But Martha was distracted by the big dinner she was preparing. She came to Jesus and said, “Lord, doesn’t it seem unfair to you that my sister just sits here while I do all the work? Tell her to come and help me.”\u00a0 But the Lord said to her, “My dear Martha, you are worried and upset over all these details!\u00a0 There is only one thing worth being concerned about. Mary has discovered it, and it will not be taken away from her.”<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>

Luke 11<\/span><\/span><\/h3>\n\t\t\t\t\t
17 When Jesus arrived at Bethany, he was told that Lazarus had already been in his grave for four days. 18 Bethany was only a few miles down the road from Jerusalem,\u00a0 and many of the people had come to console Martha and Mary in their loss.\u00a0 When Martha got word that Jesus was coming, she went to meet him. But Mary stayed in the house.\u00a0 Martha said to Jesus, “Lord, if only you had been here, my brother would not have died.\u00a0 But even now I know that God will give you whatever you ask.”<\/p>\n

23 Jesus told her, “Your brother will rise again.” \u00a0 “Yes,” Martha said, “he will rise when everyone else rises, at the last day.” \u00a0\u00a0 Jesus told her, “I am the resurrection and the life. Anyone who believes in me will live, even after dying. Everyone who lives in me and believes in me will never ever die. Do you believe this, Martha?”<\/p>\n

27 “Yes, Lord,” she told him. “I have always believed you are the Messiah, the Son of God, the one who has come into the world from God.”\u00a0 Then she returned to Mary. She called Mary aside from the mourners and told her, “The Teacher is here and wants to see you.”\u00a0 So Mary immediately went to him.\u00a0\u00a0 John 11:17-29<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>

John 12<\/span><\/span><\/h3>\n\t\t\t\t\t
Six days before the Passover celebration began, Jesus arrived in Bethany, the home of Lazarus\u2014the man he had raised from the dead.\u00a0 A dinner was prepared in Jesus’ honor. Martha served, and Lazarus was among those who ate with him.\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 John 12:1-2<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div><\/p>\n

In Martha we see a person who loved by serving.\u00a0 A worker who juggled the details, and yet had a deep abiding faith that carried her through the unknown. Someone who worried and yet was loved by the Lord.<\/p>\n

Do you see yourself in Martha?\u00a0 Perhaps you’re a busy mother.\u00a0 Maybe you’re busy in the care for someone who needs you.\u00a0 But Jesus calls us to sit at His feet and take time to discover the most important thing.<\/p>\n

Maybe a circle named Martha is just the thing for you right now.<\/p>\n
