{"id":177,"date":"2014-01-16T16:22:12","date_gmt":"2014-01-16T20:22:12","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/pitmanumc.org\/wp\/?page_id=177"},"modified":"2015-11-22T20:40:57","modified_gmt":"2015-11-23T00:40:57","slug":"shut-ins-nrfpt-singers","status":"publish","type":"page","link":"https:\/\/pitmanumc.org\/wp\/?page_id=177","title":{"rendered":"Shut Ins- NRfPT Singers"},"content":{"rendered":"<h1><span style=\"color: #000080;\">Not Ready for Prime Time Singers<\/span><\/h1>\n<p><span style=\"color: #000000;\">Who says you have to be able to sing to share God&#8217;s love?\u00a0 Your talent doesn&#8217;t have to be &#8220;ready for prime time&#8221;;\u00a0 all you need is a willingness to listen.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #000000;\">Our community cares for each other throughout all stages of life.\u00a0 When you reach the point where you&#8217;re not able to leave your home or when you need to live at a nursing home, or if you&#8217;re in the hospital, the Not Ready for Prime Time Singers is ready to extend the hand of fellowship to you.\u00a0\u00a0 <a href=\"https:\/\/pitmanumc.org\/wp\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/01\/Not-Ready-for-Prime-Time-2015-11-21-_400x300.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignright size-medium wp-image-9440\" src=\"https:\/\/pitmanumc.org\/wp\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/01\/Not-Ready-for-Prime-Time-2015-11-21-_400x300-300x225.jpg\" alt=\"Not Ready for Prime Time 2015-11-21 _400x300\" width=\"300\" height=\"225\" srcset=\"https:\/\/pitmanumc.org\/wp\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/01\/Not-Ready-for-Prime-Time-2015-11-21-_400x300-300x225.jpg 300w, https:\/\/pitmanumc.org\/wp\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/01\/Not-Ready-for-Prime-Time-2015-11-21-_400x300.jpg 400w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 300px) 100vw, 300px\" \/><\/a><br \/>\n<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #000000;\">The group gathers together twice a month (on the first and third Saturdays).\u00a0 The evening begins with a covered dish dinner at one of the member&#8217;s homes.\u00a0 After dinner, the group is broken up into 2-3 teams who go and visit 2 locations.\u00a0 Dinner generally begins at 5:15 PM and we depart for the visitations at 6:30PM.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #000000;\">During the visit, we listen, share, and <em>try<\/em> to sing as we spend some time with someone who rarely sees anyone outside of their home or institution.\u00a0 We sing, pray, and just listen.\u00a0 This time is a blessing to the person being visited, but it is often even more of a blessing to those of us who are the visitors!<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #000000;\">After the visitations, each group returns to the host home to share news of the visits and to enjoy some delicious desserts!\u00a0 This is a grass roots ministry which grew out of a Christmas caroling visit many years ago.<\/span><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<h3><span style=\"color: #800000;\">\u00a0Frequently Asked Questions (Excuses???)<\/span><\/h3>\n<ul>\n<li><span style=\"color: #000000;\"><strong>I&#8217;M NOT A MEMBER OF THE CHOIR<\/strong><\/span><br \/>\nSinging ability isn&#8217;t necessary!\u00a0 If you enjoy singing and visiting with people,\u00a0 you will find your presence is a blessing to our shut-in friends.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<ul>\n<li><span style=\"color: #000000;\"><strong> I CAN&#8217;T JOIN AND COMMIT TO GOING ALL THE TIME.<\/strong><\/span><br \/>\nWhether you can come every time we meet, once a month, once a calendar quarter, once a year, or once in a blue moon&#8230; PLEASE COME!\u00a0 You will always be welcome.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<ul>\n<li><span style=\"color: #000000;\"><strong>I&#8217;M ON A DIET.\u00a0 I DON&#8217;T WANT TO GO OUT FOR DINNER.<\/strong><\/span><br \/>\nYou can skip the dinner and come for the visitation only if you want!\u00a0 While we would enjoy your company before and after the visits, the main focus is the visits with our shut-ins.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<ul>\n<li><span style=\"color: #000000;\"><strong>I CAN&#8217;T HOST A DINNER.\u00a0 I DON&#8217;T WANT TO BE A FREELOADER.<\/strong><\/span><br \/>\nHosting isn&#8217;t necessary or even expected.\u00a0 The purpose is visitation.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<ul>\n<li><span style=\"color: #000000;\"><strong> I&#8217;VE GOT KIDS.\u00a0 I CAN&#8217;T FIND A SITTER FOR THEM.<\/strong><\/span><br \/>\nChildren of all ages are more than welcome!\u00a0 The shut-ins are very happy to have young people visit with them.\u00a0 Many are separated from their families and look forward to seeing our children.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<ul>\n<li><span style=\"color: #000000;\"><strong>I GET CAR SICK AND CAN&#8217;T DRIVE ALL OVER THE PLACE.<\/strong><\/span><br \/>\nEach group only makes two visits, and they&#8217;re local.\u00a0 Currently we visit with friends at Cardinal Village, Manor Care, Pitman Manor, and Park Place as well as several people in their homes.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<ul>\n<li><span style=\"color: #000000;\"><strong>I DON&#8217;T THINK IT WILL DO ANY GOOD.<\/strong><\/span><br \/>\nWe&#8217;ve found that in nursing homes, our visits are really important to all of the residents, and not just to the members of our church who are in the nursing home.\u00a0 Those who attend tell other residents about our visits and invite them to attend.\u00a0 In most of our nursing home visits, what started out as a personal visit has evolved into a group visit.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Not Ready for Prime Time Singers Who says you have to be able to sing to share God&#8217;s love?\u00a0 Your talent doesn&#8217;t have to be &#8220;ready for prime time&#8221;;\u00a0 all you need is a willingness to listen.
