{"id":164,"date":"2014-01-16T16:03:58","date_gmt":"2014-01-16T20:03:58","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/pitmanumc.org\/wp\/?page_id=164"},"modified":"2025-06-16T14:12:59","modified_gmt":"2025-06-16T18:12:59","slug":"prayer","status":"publish","type":"page","link":"https:\/\/pitmanumc.org\/wp\/?page_id=164","title":{"rendered":"Prayer"},"content":{"rendered":"<h2><span style=\"color: #000080;\">Pray Without Ceasing&#8230;<\/span><\/h2>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<div id=\"attachment_464\" style=\"width: 143px\" class=\"wp-caption alignleft\"><a href=\"https:\/\/pitmanumc.org\/wp\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/01\/Chapel-_6943.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-464\" class=\" wp-image-464 \" src=\"https:\/\/pitmanumc.org\/wp\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/01\/Chapel-_6943.jpg\" alt=\"Prayer Chapel\" width=\"133\" height=\"155\" \/><\/a><p id=\"caption-attachment-464\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">Prayer Chapel<\/p><\/div>\n<p><span style=\"color: #000000;\">Prayer connects us with our Lord Jesus, and through prayer He provides direction, healing, comfort, and commitment.\u00a0 We pray for our church, its leaders and people, for our friends and family, and even for ourselves.\u00a0 As we turn to God, quieting ourselves in prayer, we find that He always speaks to us using that &#8220;still small voice.&#8221;\u00a0 Prayer is the lifeblood that keeps us in tune with God.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #000000;\">Prayer can happen at any time\u00a0 or any place.\u00a0 But during the week,\u00a0 outside of the mountaintop of worship, we take advantages of special opportunities to pray and to be prayed for.<\/span><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<h3><span style=\"color: #800000; font-size: 14pt;\">Weekly Prayer Guide<\/span><\/h3>\n<p>Every Sunday,\u00a0 a &#8220;Prayer Sheet&#8221; containing suggested prayer concerns is handed out.\u00a0 This Prayer Guide is also posted on this website.\u00a0 To view this week&#8217;s Prayer Guide, click the below button:\u00a0<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><a href='https:\/\/pitmanumc.org\/wp\/?p=34888' class='small-button smallgreen' target=\"_blank\"><span style=\"color: #000000;\"> Weekly Prayer Guide<\/span><\/a><\/p>\n<p>Prayer is personal; we come to God to share our concerns and needs.\u00a0 We come to God in thanksgiving and praise for what He&#8217;s doing in our own lives.\u00a0 But prayer is also communal.\u00a0 We join with our community to pray for things that affect us all.\u00a0 The Weekly Prayer Guide is a way for us to join together and pray as a community of faith.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<h3><span style=\"color: #800000; font-size: 14pt;\">Prayer Chains<\/span><\/h3>\n<p><span style=\"color: #000000;\">The phone prayer chain has been a vital part of our fabric for many years.\u00a0 When personal crisis arrive, people indicate that they are in need of prayer, and our web of prayer warriors spring into action.\u00a0 To augment this, we have established a web of prayer warriors using email. When a prayer request is received; whether it is from the website, via email or the phone prayer chain, our e-prayer coordinator will send an email message indicating<strong> the name <\/strong>of the person needing prayer.\u00a0 God knows the specifics of the needs of the person we are asked to pray for, but it is up to us to lift them to His throne of grace.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #000000;\">IF you or a loved one are in need of prayer, you can request prayer by contacting the church office, contacting Mary Lou Hagerty, emailing <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><span style=\"color: #000080; text-decoration: underline;\"><a href=\"mailto:prayer@pitmanumc.org\"><span style=\"color: #000080; text-decoration: underline;\">prayer@pitmanumc.org<\/span><\/a><\/span><\/span> or by using the prayer request form on the website. Once received, <strong>the name<\/strong> will be lifted up in prayer.<strong>DO NOT<\/strong> <strong>include details<\/strong> &#8211; God already knows why prayer is needed.
