In our Narthex on Sunday, an organ donor and an organ recipient shared their experience with our congregation.  One person can save or enhance the lives of more than 50 people.  More than 123,000 Americans are waiting for life saving organ transplants.  Tragically, 18 people die each DAY because the organs they need are not available.  But anyone can help save lives by deciding to be an organ and tissue donor.

PUMC has a special connection and appreciation for this Gift of Life.  Several years ago, one of our members was undergoing kidney failure and was in desperate need of a life saving transplant.  A search was made.  Many times a suitable donor is not found in time, but in our case, one was found.  And miraculously, the donor was from Pitman and her mother is a member of our church!   God’s hand intervened and a life was saved.

And so today, Charles Weatherby (the recipient) and Satyra Oberfrank (the donor) share a special bond of life, and they bear witness to the miracle of God’s divine intervention in our lives.  God answered our prayers for Charles, Satyra and their doctors.  But what about the others who are waiting for an organ donor?  Who will God use to answer those prayers?
