Scott Rambo,  who with his wife Meg has been serving as a missionary in Uganda.  During a visit to the States, he gave an update during the worship services, and then he met with the Men’s Group after the 11:00 service.  Scott and Meg are affiliated with World Gospel Mission.  They have been training pastors in Uganda.  When they return to Africa, they will be going to Congo to set up a similar training program.

During his meeting with the UMM, Scott related the need to teach the Bible using story telling techniques.  In the areas where he is serving, people learn primarily through the spoken word instead of through reading.  He demonstrated his skill by sharing the story in 1 Samuel 24 where David had the opportunity to take Saul’s life.  Despite the pleading of his men, David felt that Saul was still God’s anointed and he refused to kill him.  Instead, he cut off a corner of the king’s robe.

Scott’s method of telling this “story” made it easy to apply it.  Since it was told in real “oral” words using common language, application of what the story could mean to the listeners is clearly evident.
