Entering a Jughandle, Rotary, or Roundabout (12/6/16)

As we approach Christmas, Pastor Jim has been preaching a series entitled “An Advent Road Trip.” This was the 2nd part in that series. Is Christmas just a destination? Buy the gifts, wrap the gifts, take down the tree and move on? Is there something we can take from Christmas; not only from Christmas Day but from the journey to Christmas? The following recording is from the 11:00 service. Click on the play button, then scroll down to follow along…   Our scripture...

The Power That’s Behind You

The following message was posted on our signboard on August 20, 2016:
“THE POWER BEHIND YOU IS GREATER THAN THE PROBLEM AHEAD OF YOU.”
God has given us His Spirit which not only helps us through the problems of life, but it also helps us to a deeper joy that comes with a faithful relationship to God.

2016 Vacation Bible School Leads us out of Out of a Cave! (6/27 – 7/1)

Caves… they’re dark, scary, and they’re easy to get lost in. They’re also a perfect metaphor for the stretches of life where there seems to be no hope.
Thanks to the work of the Holy Spirit (and some faithful human hands), our 2016 Vacation Bible School was a huge success! Kids of all ages learned how to depend on the Light of the World to get through our “caves.”

There’s No Place Like Home (11/1/15)

The Prodigal Father longed for his son to return home.  When the son came to his senses and came home, the Father rejoiced (sang and danced… a we saw in last week’s sermon?).  God wants us to come home to Him! On Sunday 11/1/15, we celebrated our church’s anniversary by holding a single service.  It was like a homecoming as the “9:30 people” worshiped with the “11:00 people.”  Afterwards we celebrated with a luncheon and lots of pictures in the...

The Original Jailhouse Rock (8/16/15)

Going through a rough time?  Having a bad day?  Maybe you’re wondering where God is in all of this; when will He show up?… will He show up?…  Pastor Jim took a look at these questions during his sermon of August 16, 2015. Due to a problem which forced us to rebuild our website using a backup file, the following post was restored from a draft version and is not complete. However, the audio file is complete (so sit back, relax, read what is here, and listen to Pastor...

Good Thing God Doesn’t Take Vacations!

In May of 2015 the signboard said: GOOD THING GOD DOESN’T TAKE VACATIONS! We’re at the time of the season when school is about to close, the weather is getting warmer, the days are getting longer… and people are thinking about getting away.  When you’re on vacation, you’re away from the normal routine.  You can put some distance between yourself and the concerns of life.  You can even put some space between yourself and those who love and depend on you.  When...

Pastor’s Ponderings: The Cross

Pastor Jim submitted the following devotional on March 27, 2015…   Greetings Friends: PLEASE READ: 2 Corinthians 5:14-15, “For Christ’s love compels us, because we are convinced that one died for all, and therefore all died. And He died for all, that those who live should no longer live for themselves but for Him who died for them and was raised again.”   Our journey through Lent is bringing us ever closer to the cross of Jesus. A question I have been pondering...

Pastor’s Ponderings: A Stormy Month

Pastor Jim sent the following devotional on 2/28/15…   Greetings Friends: PLEASE READ: Mark 4:35-41 On the same day, when evening had come, He said to them, “Let us cross over to the other side.” Now when they had left the multitude, they took Him along in the boat as He was. And other little boats were also with Him. And a great windstorm arose, and the waves beat into the boat, so that it was already filling. But He was in the stern, asleep on a pillow. And they awoke him and...

Today is a Gift!

The signboard message posted on December 27, 2014 read: LIFE IS A GIFT. THAT’S WHY THEY CALL IT THE PRESENT. OK.  Maybe a cheep pun.  Maybe cliche.  Whenever we think of someone who survived a serious disease or somehow dodged a life threatening accident, a string of sayings pops into mind to remind us that life is indeed fragile.  Whenever some unusual event threatens our lives, we are able to see life as a gift from God. But what about during normal times?  What if you’re...

Pastor’s Ponderings: Just Another Day…

The following message was provided by Pastor Jim…   Greetings Friends: PLEASE READ: Proverbs 3:5-6 “Trust in the LORD with all your heart and do not lean on your own understanding. In all your ways acknowledge Him and He will make your paths straight.” As we go through a typical day, it is easy to become frustrated, disappointed, or downright angry when things don’t happen the way we think they should. Yet the Bible teaches us that God is sovereign We would agree...
