Friends,

This past Saturday, over 200 persons gathered at the Pitman United Methodist Church for the District Day of Learning.  What a wonderful day of worship, learning, and fellowship.  My deepest appreciation to all who helped out in any way.  On Saturday, February 22, over 50 persons met in Atlantic City for our District work day.  I am grateful to all who sought to make a difference in a community impacted by Superstorm Sandy.

By now, most of you have received the news that I will be ending my term as Delaware Bay District Superintendent on June 30 of this year.  Serving on this district has been a very special joy and honor. Joanna and I have deeply enjoyed working with all of our pastors and congregations. We have met so many wonderful people on the district and we will cherish all of the experiences we have had of working together to strengthen our witness for Jesus Christ.  There are so many exciting and vital ministries occurring in our churches and I am excited about the possibilities for outreach and ministry in the days ahead.   It is a joy to extend a welcome to the new District Superintendent, Rev. Jisun Kwak, who is currently serving as the Gateway North Superintendent.   I know you will blessed by her ministry and leadership.

This past Sunday the announcement was made that I will be appointed to the First United Methodist Church of Moorestown beginning July 1.  It is a very active church with many programs, activities, and outreaches.  Joanna and I are looking forward to this new beginning and ask for your prayers that we will be used as instruments of God’s good news and love in this new faith community.

I hope many of you will be able to join us for a farewell celebration on Sunday, June 8, 2:00 at the Trinity United Methodist Church in Mullica Hill.  You will be receiving more details at a later date.

May God continue to lead the churches of the Delaware Bay District to be vital congregations for Jesus Christ.

Richard Nichols

Delaware Bay District Superintendent
