Christians across the globe have long observed the first Sunday in October has as “World Communion Sunday.” World Communion Sunday will be celebrated by PUMC THIS Sunday (October 5, 2014).
As we celebrate Holy Communion this Sunday, millions of people across the globe will also take part in the Lord’s Supper. This special communion will be observed by many denominations; this isn’t only a United Methodist tradition. We are reminded that Christ died for all people, regardless of nationality.
A special offering will also be taken during the service. The purpose of the World Communion Offering is to develop leaders in the church by providing scholarships for advanced education.
