Mothers Day Videos Bring the Family Together (5/10/20)

Posted by on May 13, 2020 in EventReport, Worship & Prayer | 0 comments

Mother’s Day is a time to celebrate family.  We start the day with our Church Family, and then we spend the rest of the day with our home family.  If we’re blessed to still have our Moms with us, we take them to dinner.  We celebrate with Moms, Grandmoms, Dads, Sisters and Brothers.  Celebrating family means that we come together.

But the 2020 Coronavirus has imposed “social distancing” on us.  We’re going to church via Live Stream, talking to friends on the phone, and seeing family on Skype or Zoom.

Mother’s Day 2020

We went to church on Sunday May 12, 2020…. but the pews were empty.  Live Stream lets you worship, but it doesn’t let you hug.  We do love seeing Pastor Jim and the music team on Sundays, but it’s not the same as seeing our church family.

So, during the Mother’s Day service, two slideshow videos were shown.  The videos remind us of “simpler times” when we could all be together.  They remind us that we are not alone, and they give us hope for the day when we can all be together again.  Using photos provided by our church family and adding music through her own talent, our Music Director, Sue Crispin, spearheaded the creation of the two videos shown below.

Joy-Filled Juniors

Mother’s Day is about Moms and kids, so our Junior Choir holds a special place in our hearts.  On a “normal” Mother’s Day, the choir loft would be filled with Moms and their kids.  But in the current “virtual” world in which we’re living, we could only celebrate Mother and Child by looking back at photographs.

During the Live Stream service, our “Virtual Joy-Filled Juniors” choir sang Jesus Loves Me.  Photos of children, both current and past, jogged our memories and warmed our hearts…

Joy-Filled Moms

Mother’s Day is about family and being together.  In response to announcements made during the Live Stream services, our church family sent in pictures of themselves.  Some of the photos are from the present, and they remind us of our current church family.  But others are from the past, and they remind us of loved ones who have gone on to glory.

At the end of the service, we celebrated family by viewing this slideshow:

Proverbs  31:26-31

A Godly Mother…

She speaks with wisdom, and faithful instruction is on her tongue.

She watches over the affairs of her household and does not eat the bread of idleness.

Her children arise and call her blessed; her husband also, and he praises her:

“Many women do noble things, but you surpass them all.”

Charm is deceptive, and beauty is fleeting; but a woman who fears the Lord is to be praised.

Give her the reward she has earned, and let her works bring her praise at the city gate.
