Imagine that your home has been flooded.  The smell of mildew is everywhere.  Dirt coats the floors and counters.  One of your biggest needs is something we take for granted: cleaning supplies.  Buckets, soaps, laundry detergent, sponges, trash bags… the list goes on and on.

As part of the United Methodist Committed on Relief’s (UMCOR) efforts, our youth have started a project to collect items to assemble “Flood Buckets.”  These buckets will be filled with specific cleaning items.

The buckets will be shipped to the flooded areas in Florida and Texas by UMCOR, the mission branch of the United Methodist Church.

Help us by shopping for the items below.  You may choose to assemble an entire flood bucket or donate individual items. Bins for drop-off of items will be in the Narthex until Sunday, October 29.

Please note: UMCOR has spelled out a very specific list of items that are needed in each bucket. Please pay attention to the requirements described below.  Sizes are specified to enable shipping and storage.

Please donate any of the following items (bins will be provided in the church narthex):

The Bucket:  5-gallon round bucket with resealable lid

  •  Buckets from fast-food restaurants or bakeries can  be used if washed and cleaned
  •  Do not use buckets that have stored chemicals such  as paint or pool cleaner
  •  Advertisements on the outside are acceptable
  •  No square buckets (Only round buckets are used to ensure proper stacking during transportation)

  • If you cannot find the requested size of a liquid item, use a smaller size.
Including larger sizes of any item will prevent the lid from sealing.
