Bishop Schol held a series of tele-conferences with clergy and laity regarding the recent reports about a proposal which would create a schism in the United Methodist Church. The media reports incorrectly characterized the proposals as decisions. The Bishop fielded a wide range of questions to debunk the rumors and to ensure us that the UM Church will continue to focus on our mission to make disciples of Jesus Christ for the Transformation of the world.

Pastors in the United Methodist Church are appointed one year at a time. Clergy are members of the Annual Conference; not of the local church. Roads are great… we use them all the time! But that’s part of the problem. After years of rain, ice, snow, salt, and plowing, roads wear out. They get pot holes. The sidewalks become… unwalkable. Unfortunately, that also applies to the roads surrounding our church. Our church building is located on the corner of Lambs Road (county road 635) and Broadway (County road 553A), and both roads are now undergoing serious work. Rakes, shovels, snow blowers, shovels… where do you put them? If you’re a homeowner, you probably store them in your garage or in a garden shed. But if you’re a church, you also need a place to store them. We’re called to be good stewards of all God has entrusted us with… even rakes and shovels. Ever since we moved into our new building in 2008, this has been an issue. Snowblowers, gas cans, and other items have been stored under tarps; hidden away in any...
