Preschool Heaps on Heifer Gifts! (4/30/18)

Our Fathers House is more than your “normal” preschool. It’s also about exposing our kids to God’s love and showing them how to share that love with others by being God’s hands and feet.
Recently, the Our Fathers House family completed a project where they made a huge donation to Heifer International.

PUMC’ers See Jesus! (4/11/18)

A bus full of about 60 people saw Jesus on April 11!  Well, in many ways we always see Jesus.  Technically speaking, on this day we saw “Jesus“; the current production at the Sight and Sound theater in Lancaster PA. The performances at Sight and Sound are legendary (if there ever was such a thing); live animals, computer graphics, and talented actors surround the audience in a way that brings everyone back to first century Israel.  Angels drop from the ceiling, raindrops fall, and...

Men’s Fellowship Refocuses during 2018 Retreat! (3/16/18)

The 2018 Men’s Fellowship retreat was our 17th annual retreat at Black Rock! Regardless of our situation or how many times we’ve done something, we need to be aware of the purpose of our life.
Pastor George DeVol led us on a weekend study of Paul’s letter to the Philippians, and to some serious reflection…

Daffodils and Diapers Help Sick and Needy (3/25/18)

The day was Palm Sunday; a special sabbath for celebrating the arrival of our King and Savior into Jerusalem. But like any other opportunity when we gather, it was also a time to reach out and help the needy.  Palm Branches helped us worship, but Daffodils and Diapers helped us to help others.   Daffodils Each year at this time, we sell pots of daffodils.  These yellow flowers do more than to just brighten up our springtime homes;  the proceeds go to the the American Cancer society to...

Choirs Present Love on Palm Sunday! (3/25/18)

On Palm Sunday (March 11, 2018) the choirs presented a musical cantata entitled “Here is Love.” When Jesus willingly entered Jerusalem to present Himself as our sacrifice for sin, on that first Palm Sunday, God’s love was on display in a way that it had never been seen before.

Remembering Missionary John Enright (12/26/17)

Long time PUMC’ers probably remember supporting Ken and Loraine Enright during the 1980s (and beyond).  The Enrights were missionaries in Africa, using their airplanes to bring medicine and the Gospel to remote areas in Zaire and the other African countries they ministered to over the years. Ken and Loraine have both passed away, but their son John took up the mantel. Unfortunately, we recently lost John when he was killed in an automobile accident on the day after Christmas (2017).  His...

Superbowl Sunday, Superstrong Suit! (2/4/18)

Sunday February 4, 2018. It’s a date that most of us will remember; it was a big day for PUMC. Pastor Jim returned from his surgery, we celebrated Superbowl Sunday, AND (after church)- we watched our Philadelphia Eagles beat the New England Patriots to win their first Super Bowl! But our faith is more than one big day; it’s lived out day to day…

PUMC Participates in Pitman Volunteer Fair (1/27/18)

One of the traditional ways of celebrating Martin Luther King Day is to give yourself in service to the community.  Our own community of Pitman and our own community of Pitman United Methodist Church cannot be the community of love and support that it is without “volunteers”; people giving of themselves for the better good.   This year (on January 27, 2018) our town held a “Volunteer Fair” in our Borough Hall.  A wide variety of  organizations participated by telling...

On Thursday December 7, the Pre-K classes of our Our Father’s House Preschool presented their annual Christmas Pageant.  Mary, Joseph, Friendly Beasts, Shepherds, Wise Men, a Star, and even a pajama girl gathered around the manger to welcome the Baby Jesus.   About 50 children participated, and the sanctuary was filled with proud parents pointing their cell phone cameras towards their youngsters. To those who have supported Our Father’s House by attending these annual pageants,...

David Meece Testifies of New Rainbows! (10/14/17)

Renown singer /songwriter David Meece performed “In Concert” at our church on Saturday Oct. 14, 2017. In many ways, it was like any other concert by a “celebrity.” Before the “show”, there was a table full of CDs in the lobby and bashful young ladies had the chance to meet the “star” backstage. When David took the “stage” he opened with a rousing performance of “Raise These Arms,” getting everyone to clap their hands and...
